Today's
post revolves around the excitement of owning and setting up your first home.
It takes a lot of courage to buy yourself a home (without
any financial support from your family or relatives). The feeling of owning your first home or delivering your first
child is divine & incomparable (it's the best feeling in the world). When I
was a child, I had dreamt of owning a small space for myself where I could unwind, unleash, give a free rein to all my desires. Trust me, I did not
imagine in my wildest dreams that my yearning for owning a home would be
fulfilled. I had to pinch myself several times to see if I was dreaming. I
couldn't believe that I could decorate the walls with wall decals, photo
frames, posters, drill as many nails as I want & can put together a gallery wall.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw my name engraved on the wooden plate of
my apartment door. I took the first step in chanting Ganesha mantras.
Positive vibes were flowing throughout my home. We followed
the age old tradition of boiling the milk & letting it overflow &
spill. I am a clean freak, for me a spotless home is the zenith of achievement.
I am someone who balances traditional values with modern lifestyle hence I didn't
clean up the messy kitchen instantaneously. There
is another custom of making sathiya on Kalash. I am terrible at creating
saathiyas hence had to take help from my husband (who is deeply religious &
moralistic).
A brand new home is like a blank canvas waiting to be filled
in with meaningful memories & moments. I fell in love with the crisp white
color of the walls, wooden laminated doors, beautiful view from my balcony,
refreshing fragrance of a freshly painted apartment, bright sunlight streaming into
my living room, birds tweeting perched in a tree somewhere outside my bedroom
window (to cut a long story short the feeling was overwhelming). With home
ownership comes a deep sense of pride and accomplishment.
When you bought your first home did you feel the same ?
